He understood that this was the moment to lean in, say something sweet, and put on an affectionate act. But his body was so stiff, he couldn’t manage it. Far from leaning in, he was barely keeping himself from giving in to the urge to distance himself from Inukai.

He had always known, deep down, that he wasn’t suited for this job as a host.
Not only did he lack experience, but he also had none of the shrewdness or acting ability to skillfully manipulate clients. He didn’t have the confidence to entertain people with a pretend romance.

Kazusa placed his champagne glass on the low table, turned to Inukai, and began to speak.
“Inukai-san… I have something I’d like to discuss with you.”
“A discussion?”
“It’s regarding the matter I asked to put on hold the other day… my response.”
“You’re ready to answer me already? Looks like renting the VIP room paid off.”
Seeing the hopeful glint in Inukai’s eyes made Kazusa’s chest ache.
He never knew how heavy it felt to tell someone ‘no’. He’d lived a life without much romantic attention, so he’d never experienced this before. Zero, on the other hand, must have encountered these situations dozens—no, hundreds of times. Though, he likely had never been rejected.
Frustrated with himself for thinking of Zero even at such an important moment, Kazusa shook his head—and then it happened.
His heart gave a powerful thump, triggering a steady, rhythmic pounding.

Reflexively, he pressed his hand to his left chest.

He was nervous, yes. But this felt different.
As he grappled with this unfamiliar feeling, his body temperature gradually began to rise. Sweat started seeping from every pore, quickly dampening his armpits, back, and the backs of his thighs.
A feverish warmth emanated from deep within him, making his breathing ragged…
He recognized this sensation. He’d felt it for the first time a month ago.
As he remembered, a certain possibility came to mind, and his heart beat even more uneasily.

Kazusa steadied himself, mentally telling himself, (Calm down. This was within expectations.)
In anticipation of such an event, he had taken a suppressant an hour and a half ago. Even if his heat started, the symptoms would be fully suppressed by the medication. There would be no release of omega pheromones.
He understood this logically, yet he couldn’t completely quell his unease. He subtly reached into the pocket of his pants and took out a pill case.

Turning his face to the side, he quickly took out one more pill, tossed it into his mouth, and washed it down with the remaining champagne.

Now he was in the clear. Relaxing his shoulders, Kazusa shot a quick glance at Inukai and immediately felt his tension return. Inukai’s moustache twitched, and he was subtly sniffing the air.
“What’s that smell?”
Kazusa felt a chill at Inukai’s perplexed mutter.

No way. Impossible. That couldn’t be happening.
But as if mocking Kazusa’s desperate denial, Inukai’s face flushed, and his breathing grew quicker. His usual, intellectual calm had vanished, replaced by a feverish gleam in his eyes.

As Kazusa stared at the man before him in disbelief, Inukai leaned in, causing Kazusa to instinctively draw back. Inukai sniffed near his neck.
“It’s sweet… and smells good.”
Inukai whispered in a dazed tone, blowing a warm breath against Kazusa’s ear. Kazusa felt a shiver as goosebumps rose along his neck, his heart rate and temperature spiking. Sweat, which had momentarily subsided, burst out again, fogging up his glasses.
He swallowed hard.

He was beginning to react to Inukai’s alpha pheromones, slipping into a state of arousal.

With alarm bells blaring in his mind, Kazusa, panicking, tried to rise from his seat to escape. But before he could fully stand, Inukai grabbed his upper arm and yanked him back down.

Kazusa landed back on the sofa, only for Inukai to push him down.

Inukai looked down at him, his pupils dilated with excitement. His hands, feverish to the touch, conveyed that he was already aroused.
“P-please… let me go.”
Kazusa’s trembling plea was met only with Inukai’s rough breathing.
He twisted his body left and right, trying to break free, but Inukai pinned both of his arms, pressing his weight down on Kazusa’s lower body, preventing him from moving. Against the strength of an alpha, Kazusa was powerless.
“Please… let me go.”
In this desperate situation, he pleaded. His voice was cracking with tears, but Inukai didn’t release him. Instead, he pressed his arousal roughly against Kazusa.
“Hah…!”
A strangled gasp escaped Kazusa.
“Stop it, please!”
His voice was almost a scream, but Inukai ignored it, grinding himself even more aggressively. The stimulation to his lower abdomen ignited a warmth that, against his will, caused him to grow hard.
Though he didn’t want it in the least, his body reacted to the alpha pheromones. He felt anger and frustration toward his own betraying body.

While Kazusa despaired, Inukai’s excitement reached its peak. He seemed ready as he licked his lips with anticipation. His eyes were bloodshot, his lips parted slightly, releasing continuous, heavy breaths.
