Kazusa was impressed to learn that both of them had clear goals and were working hard to achieve them.
Here, they didn’t have to worry about food, shelter, or clothing, and they had companions around them.
Working as cast members allowed them to fulfil their need for self-affirmation and earn rewards.
The fact that they hadn’t grown complacent and continued striving for improvement showed that ‘RARE’ functioned well as a shelter. Zero's ultimate vision must have been for them to use the savings they earned from working in the lounge to achieve independence and fulfil their dreams.
Kazusa wanted to support them as much as possible.
"All right, I'll help."
"Yay!"
"Thanks, Lemur!"
And so, the decision to hold a study session was made.
Since teaching one or two people would be the same, Kazusa had suggested, "Why not invite the other cast members too?" In the end, Leopard, Newt, Lynx, and Serval also signed up.
Managing all of them at once would be tough, so Kazusa asked Hawk for help. Hawk had received one-on-one tutoring in basic education from Zero and could also speak foreign languages. While Zero, who was used to teaching, would have been the ideal choice, Kazusa couldn't risk reverting things by carelessly reaching out to him.
In preparation for the study session, Kazusa had individual interviews with each of them to find out what they wanted to learn. Based on that, he narrowed the subjects down to maths and foreign languages and prepared teaching materials. He divided the six members into classes according to their preferences, with Hawk taking charge of the foreign language class and Kazusa handling maths. Then, the day arrived.
This group consisted of Zebra, Serval, and Leopard.
None of the cast members had attended school before coming here. However, Zero had already laid the groundwork by teaching them elementary-level basics, so they were ready to learn.
In reality, the most challenging part was teaching them the proper mindset to learn since they had started from scratch. Grateful for Zero’s hard work in establishing that foundation (no doubt with considerable effort), Kazusa decided to begin with first-year junior high school mathematics.
He handed out the pre-prepared materials, and the lesson followed a 45-minute format using a whiteboard, followed by a 15-minute Q&A session. After that, there was a 15-minute quiz and answer session. From the foreign language class at the counter, which was using video lessons on tablets, he could hear lively discussions and occasional bursts of laughter.
Once Kazusa had explained each quiz problem, ensuring his three students understood, the lesson ended.
"That concludes today's lesson. Since I'm not used to teaching, there might have been parts that were unclear. I'll try to improve those if we have another session."
"Sensei, the class was super easy to understand!"
The ever-thoughtful Serval gave Kazusa a bit of praise.
"I want to try some word problems next time," Zebra quickly requested.
"Maths feels like a puzzle or something. I think I might like it."
Leopard, whose name Serval had written down on the roster as ‘troublemaker’, chimed in with sparkling eyes. His excitement matched his bright platinum blonde hair which was cropped short.
Kazusa's impression was that all three were proactive in asking questions, and they grasped things much quicker than expected. It wasn’t that they lacked intelligence—just that they hadn’t had the opportunity to receive formal education before. Most of all, he could sense a strong desire from them to learn more.
"Then, let's hold a second session sometime soon."
"Yay!" The three of them high-fived and cheered in unison. Seeing this, Kazusa couldn’t help but smile. Since they still weren’t much of an asset as cast members, he wanted to help them in any way he could.
After the foreign language class at the counter finished, the group of eight gathered around a large table. Along with tea, they enjoyed the chiffon cake that Zebra had prepared as a thank-you for the day’s lesson.
At the first bite, Kazusa exclaimed, "It's so fluffy and delicious!" Zebra, who had clasped her hands together in a prayer-like gesture, burst with joy, saying, "I’m so glad!"
"This is seriously delicious. I've never had anything this good."
Usually soft-spoken and shy, Newt expressed his admiration with an emotional tone.
"Yeah... it's really amazing."
Lynx, who usually played the role of the ‘tsundere’ (as Serval described him), nodded several times as he kept eating the cake. For him to give such genuine praise was rare, which spoke to just how good the cake was.
"With skills like this, you’ll definitely make it as a pâtissier. Keep at it."
Hawk, the big brother figure to everyone, encouraged Zebra, whose face flushed as she muttered, "I'm so happy."
"That’s great!" said Giraffe, Zebra's close friend, giving her bobbed head a playful pat.
"Hehe, I’ll keep doing my best," Zebra replied.
As the lively atmosphere continued, Kazusa was smiling when Serval, seated next to him, nudged him with an elbow.
"I’ve been meaning to ask, did you change your glasses?"
"Oh... yeah."
After his old glasses were broken by Lycaon, he had been using an old pair for a while, but since the prescription wasn’t right, his vision had become blurry. As it kept getting worse, he decided it was time to get a new pair, and yesterday he went to a glasses shop. During the eye exam, he discovered that his vision had somehow significantly improved. No wonder his old glasses didn’t feel right, though the reason for the sudden improvement was a mystery, considering his eyesight had been poor since childhood.
The only thing that came to mind as a possible cause was his gender category shift from Beta to Omega.
"My prescription changed, so I replaced the whole frame. Do they look weird?"
The new pair was a simple metal frame, not too different from his previous ones.
"No, they look great. You look way more refined than before."
"Refined?"
"It’s like the lenses are thinner, so your eyes look clearer."
"Wait, are we talking about glasses?"
Giraffe, seated on the other side, joined the conversation. Serval confirmed, "Yeah, he got new glasses. And now his eyes look so sharp and clear, right?"
"Yeah, yeah. Zebra and I were talking about it. We were saying that Lemur looks so much prettier now."
"Prettier!?"
Kazusa’s voice cracked unintentionally. There was no word that could feel more out of place to describe his appearance.
"The glasses might’ve been the trigger, but I don’t think that’s the only reason. Your features used to be a bit blurry, but now your face has more definition. It’s like you're a completely different person compared to when we first met."
Serval remarked, carefully studying Kazusa’s face.

*Translator’s Note: I think Kazusa’s looks are changing because he is changing into an Omega. After all, according to the story, Omegas are naturally beautiful. -K
