When Kazusa took off his glasses, Serval wrapped a cape around him and fastened it behind his neck.
From there, Kazusa experienced a series of ‘firsts’.
A warm towel was placed on his face, followed by a shaver to trim his facial hair. Afterward, lotion, emulsion, and serum were patted into his skin with a puff. Then came a lymphatic massage using oil. His eyebrows were trimmed with scissors, his hair combed and cut, and finally, hair wax was applied for styling.
"Okay. You can put your glasses back on."
Serval removed the cape and allowed Kazusa to put his glasses back on.
Kazusa's eyes widened as he looked in the mirror at the transformed version of himself.
His previously pale skin now had a translucent glow and appeared somewhat radiant. With his shoulders neatly adjusted, his almond-shaped eyes stood out more sharply. Just lightening his previously heavy bangs made his facial features appear sharper.
"Shaving off your peach fuzz makes your skin tone a shade brighter. In your case, the original fairness got an extra boost of clarity. I only did a little work on your eyebrows, but doesn't it make a difference? You have a lot of hair, so I trimmed the back of your neck and thinned out your bangs to make them lighter. Your hair is naturally shiny and beautiful, so I think you should leave it as it is."
"...I'm surprised. I don't even look like myself."
Kazusa's honest reaction slipped out.
"Well, you've always had the potential. You're an Omega, after all, even if it's been latent. Up until now, you thought you were a Beta, and with your busy work life, you never had time to take care of yourself. You were an unpolished gem."
"...I see."
"I get really excited about these transformation makeovers. While we're at it, let's do something about your clothes and shoes too. Instead of those same plain shirts and tacky pants, let's pick something better. On your next day off, let's go shopping together. For now, I'll lend you something from my wardrobe since we're about the same size."
Clearly excited, Serval pulled out various outfits from his closet and lined them up on the bed.
"I think you should aim for a sophisticated, intellectual look, given your age. Add a touch of subtle elegance to it. Hmm... I think this white shirt and tapered pants combo would be good. And for shoes, these."
Kazusa hesitated as he was handed an oversized asymmetrical shirt with a longer back and black pants that tapered at the ankles, along with chunky black boots.
"Isn't it a bit flashy?"
"Just put it on."
At Serval's firm insistence, Kazusa reluctantly changed into the outfit.
"So, how does it look?"
Kazusa timidly turned around, and Serval's eyes went wide.
"You look amazing! Seriously, like a different person! Come on, take a look!"
Serval held up a movable full-length mirror, and Kazusa checked out his entire reflection. It was his first time wearing such a stylish outfit, but as expected, Serval’s choice was spot-on. His figure looked much sharper. As he stood there, mesmerised by his own transformation, a buzzing sound began to hum from somewhere. Serval stopped the alarm on his smartwatch and muttered, "Oops, time's up."
"Let's head out to the lounge like this. Everyone’s going to be so surprised!"
Despite feeling hesitant, Kazusa was nudged forward by an excited Serval. Together, they descended to the basement.
"Hey, everyone, attention!"
At Serval's call, the shift members already gathered in the entrance hall—Giraffe, Zebra, Newt, and Leopard—turned to look. The moment they saw Kazusa, they all gasped. A few seconds of silence passed, and then the room erupted.
"No way—Lemur!"
"Are you serious? Total makeover!"
"Lemur was this good-looking...?"
"And kind of sexy too!"
Kazusa, unaccustomed to being complimented on his appearance, felt completely out of place. He fidgeted, rubbing his palms together, feeling like he was on display.
Just as he wished for everyone’s excitement to calm down, Serval suddenly exclaimed, "Oh! The owner!"
Kazusa's heart jumped at the words.
"Look, it's the owner!"
Serval grabbed Kazusa by the shoulders and spun him around to face Zero, who had just entered the entrance hall.
(...Zero!)
Zero, tall and impeccably dressed in a black long coat, seemed to stiffen slightly when he noticed Kazusa. His jewel-like eyes gradually widened as he stopped in his tracks.
(What... what should I do?)
Kazusa wondered how Zero would react to his appearance.
Zero’s gaze swept from Kazusa’s head to his toes, then returned to rest on his face. Kazusa, frozen under the sharp look, held his breath.
"The owner's shocked," Serval whispered into Kazusa’s ear, causing his temples to grow hot.
(Shocked... but in a good way? Or a bad way?)
Zero’s expression remained unreadable, making it impossible for Kazusa to tell.
Before long, Zero began to walk slowly toward him. With each step, the distance between them shrank, and Kazusa’s body temperature steadily rose. His heart pounded harder and harder, as if it would burst from his chest. His body began to tremble from the tension.
Zero stopped once more.
Now, he was only a metre away from Kazusa.
It had been two weeks since Kazusa last saw Zero’s face this close.
Zero’s hair, jet-black with shimmering gold highlights, framed his tanned, taut skin like well-tanned leather. His features were a perfect blend of subtle sweetness and wild charm.
His broad forehead, strikingly thick eyebrows, and high, straight nose were all framed by his full lips.
And the one feature that made him truly unique—his heterochromatic eyes, one amber, the other ice blue.
Kazusa gazed at Zero’s unparalleled beauty with a longing look.
Zero’s expressionless face mirrored the same stoic look Kazusa had seen in recent memory. His perfectly composed features made him appear cold and distant.
“......”
"Hey, owner, don’t you think our Sensei looks like a totally different person with just a little work?" Serval, seemingly growing impatient, nudged for a response, to which Zero coolly replied, "Yeah, he does."
